The TENDing Method

Structured group education and support for patients living with complex chronic illness — including a dedicated program for migraine. Designed to extend the care they receive from you, never to replace it.

The support between appointments

The TENDing Method is a clinician-led learning cohort that helps your patients translate clinical recommendations into daily life. Each cohort pairs evidence-informed education with guided practice, reflection, and peer support — sustaining momentum in the weeks between appointments. The method runs in two programs: Body Luminary’s TENDing Method for complex chronic illness broadly, and the Migraine Resilience Academy for patients whose primary presentation is migraine.

Two programs, one method

Both programs follow the same two-part arc: a six-week Foundations course, with an optional four-week Expansion for those who want to go further. Same method, same structure — the curriculum is tailored to who is in the room.

COMPLEX CHRONIC ILLNESS

The TENDing Method

WKS 1–6

FOUNDATIONS: Learn to tend your body like a garden.

EXPANSION: Discover the recipe for feeling better.

We take a deeper dive into physiology and neuroplasticity, as well as weaving these new practices into real routines, relationships, and care plans that last beyond the cohort.

Mechanisms of change

The TENDing Method is an evidence-informed, bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to facilitating the body’s own healing capacity. We rely on the following six important mechanisms to help your patients discover their own agency in their healing process.

Understanding

When patients understand what is happening in their bodies, fear decreases and agency grows.

Co-regulation

Supportive relationships create the calm and safety in which change is possible.

Active engagement

Commitment to small, structured experiments turns insight into daily routine.

Belonging

Community replaces isolation; recognition replaces shame.

Reflection

Participants learn to notice patterns instead of judging symptoms.

Clinical partnership

The patient stays centered in their existing care team throughout.

Scope, safety, and your patient's care

Education reinforces clinical care — it never replaces it.

Participants remain under the care of their referring and treating providers throughout the program. Facilitators do not diagnose, prescribe, or modify treatment plans, and participants are actively encouraged to bring what they learn back to their clinical team.

“This class solidified believing my body doesn't lie. Since the beginning of my illness journey I can think of many instances of feeling discounted/shamed.”
